Hidden Paradise

Back on a boat but thankfully only for about 30 minutes this time and off to Nusa Lembongan, I didn’t know anything about this island and from what I’d seen most people seem to only go to its neighbour called Nusa Penida, which I was also going to see afterwards.

After the boat dropped us off against the shore, meaning you had to get in the water to make your last few steps to land, I found another moped to get me about for the day, with that I checked into my hotel which it turned out I had entirely to myself as low season seriously seems to be affecting this island.

I really was surprised at this because out of everywhere I’ve been so far this did feel like a hidden paradise, I took the moped over to a small island called Nusa Ceningan which is connected to Nusa Lembongan by this famous yellow bridge which you can only cross with a moped, or by foot at your own risk.

It only takes around 20 minutes to drive around this island so after a while of exploring I found this incredible spot at the far side of the island called the Blue Lagoon.

With the sun coming down I made my way back to the hotel with a stop at Sea Breeze for some dinner and a beer with a view.

I then spent the next hour sitting outside my hotel in the dark, being on a fairly remote island has its drawbacks such as being completely out of power for a while, apparently a regular occurrence according to a passer by but a surprise to a tourist with no phone battery.

I decided to extend my stay for another night because I had been told about a snorkelling tour which my hosts could arrange, so the next morning I was up and out at 7:30, the hope was to see Manta Rays and we definitely got that and much more.

For context I had no idea what a Manta Ray even was prior to this trip, I just thought it sounded like a good idea and went off the hosts advice. The photo doesn’t really do it justice but these things are massive, I was circling round to try and see some and eventually turned to this, they’re huge and it was amazing to swim with them.

After getting back to the island I headed to the Cloudland Bar to get my last sunset in before I have to leave.
