Giving Canggu a chance

After a quick stay in Ubud which included my first Balinese style massage, which was incredible by the way although it involved a lot of touching of the feet which was incredibly ticklish, I decided that I was going to give Canggu a chance, as I’d mentioned earlier I’d heard it was just an expat party centre that I’d decided to avoid but figured I’d have to make my own judgement since I’d adventured around so many other places already.

It also meant that I had a chance of visiting the Jatiluwih Rice Teraces on the way which I missed earlier, it’s a UNESCO heritage site which I’d seen online that looked incredible, being completely honest I was unsure if I’d go or not because I’d already visited the rice terraces in Tagalalang but after deciding to go anyway, they simply cannot be compared, the scale of Jatiluwih is just something else.

That scale was incredibly apparent given that I was between hotels at this point and chose to trek through them for around 2 hours with my house on my back, it was even better that today the sun had decided to come out in force, although none of this mattered because the place was absolutely breath taking and I’d highly recommend a visit, even with it being slightly out of the way of the main touristy areas.

I continued onto Canggu, dropping my bags of at the hotel before making it straight over to the Tanah Lot Temple as I only had a couple of days here and wanted to tick off as much as possible, it’s quite a strange experience compared to the smaller temples I’d visited previously as it was tourist central and there has basically been a market constructed around it to get you to buy things which kind of takes away from the experience, but non the less it’s a must do on your visit.

Honorable restaurant mention of the day goes to Lacalita for these delicious Tacos, they cost an absolute fortune in comparison to pretty much everywhere I’ve been so far but worth it for a treat.
